WORLD VLACH AMPHICTYONY
PRESS RELEASE
On the 27th July, in the town of Kroushevo in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and in the framework of the summer festival of the town, the second meeting of the World Vlach Amphictyony, based in Greece, with the Vlachs of the aforementioned region took place with the participation of four Vlach Cultural Associations of Greece headed by the president of the World Vlach Amphictyony Mr. Michalis Mageirias. The Associations that participated in the abovementioned cultural event are the following: Association of Krania – Grevena, Greece, Association of Heraklea - Serres, Greece, Association of Perivolioton Imathia, Greece – Palaio Skytlitsi and the Association of Vlachs of Prosotsani – Drama, Greece.
The Vlachs of Kroushevo massively attended the event that also received the active support of both the local Association of Friendship and Cooperation between Krushevo and Greece "Agios Nikolaos" which is a member of the Amphictyony and the summer festival of the town. More than seventy dancers of the participating Greek associations performed an excellent music and dance program presenting the genuine and authentic tradition of the Greek Vlachs. Furthermore, the event pointed out the strong, diachronic and historical bonds among Vlachs across the borders of the region and their significant contribution to the friendship and cooperation between Greece and the host country. The Vlachs of Krushevo belong to the historic Diaspora of the Vlach-speaking populations of Grammos and Pindos, Greece and Moschopolis, Albania.
The President of the Vlach’s Union of Albania and Vice President of the World Vlach Amphictyony Mr. Tanas Potsi as well as the President of the Vlach Cultural Association “Mandra”, Korca – Albania and member of the World Vlach Amphictyony, Mr. Aben Lena, attended also the event.
